What is Careers?

located behind the canteen

Careers is a term for a process of development that encompasses all experiences through a life span. Including education, work experiences, discussions with other people, through media and life in general. To identify a particular career pathway is rarely done in a single moment, usually it occurs over a period of time and can often change.
Gallery Image Career Development within MMC sits within all curriculum areas, as subject teachers are aware of how the skills taught can be transferred to many different career pathways, and will make relevant links to career ideas throughout units of work.

As our students journey through MMC, their Career Ideas will be captured within their Career Profile. This electronic system provides a logical structure for students to do research on various career pathway ideas then linking them to their subject selection over a possible four year period.

Making well-informed career and study plans can be challenging and even daunting - to help avoid this dilemma invest time in yourself like:
* Complete Career Assessments, to help improve your understanding of yourself
* Research & record Career Pathway ideas
* Identify study options
* Talk to people who do similar careers now that you are thinking of
* Decide and make plans, supported by skilled career guidance

We offer various exploration opportunities including; Career Quest, Career Services website, Tertiary Awareness Day, Work Based Training Day, Career Pathway Evening, Liaison Visits and many more options.

Come meet with us in the Career Pathway Centre - Parents are most welcome.
